As I prepared to write this brief Kernel, I combed through previous posts and realized that we have never explicitly written about taking a break from writing. This was surprising to me because, in our private chats, we Kernelists often remind each other that, despite the joy it brings us, writing is work; that we are entitled to rest; and that taking necessary breaks allows us to recuperate and perform at our best.
At the Kernel, we strive to create a resource that represents just that: our best. If you’ve never stopped by our “About Page” let me share an excerpt on why we chose the name “The Kernel.”
[W]e aim to boil down our thoughts—on craft and within it—into their purest forms. What’s left is the most central piece, something’s quiddity, a kernel, a bit of digestible information.
We work hard to honor our name, and in order to continue bringing you the quality insights, information, and inspiration that you’ve come to expect from us, we have decided to go on a hiatus.
In the interim, we wish you all a wonderful holiday season. Regardless if you celebrate, we hope the coming months are filled with joy, rest, and merriment.
